Mission Analysis

SpaceDyS has the expertise to perform the mission analysis for, e.g., micro satellites to operate in the proximity of the Earth or in Deep Space, during all the mission development phases.
Best trajectory solutions can be found given mission requirements and constraints, from the definition of launch conditions to the injection in the operational orbit, including orbit determination, navigation, and contingency analysis.

HENON Mission

The HEliospheric pioNeer for sOlar and interplanetary threats defeNce (HENON) mission is a 12U-CubeSat Space Weather mission, designed to operate in a so-called Distant Retrograde Orbit (DRO) in the Sun-Earth system, at more than 12 million km from the Earth.

HENON will embark payloads tailored for Space Weather (SWE) observations, and a high-resolution energetic particle radiation monitor, making it capable to provide a real time monitoring of the particle radiation environment in the deep space.

The mission phases A/B have been conducted by a consortium led by Argotec, with INAF, University of Calabria, University of Florence and SpaceDyS, under an ESA GSTP contract through the financial support of ASI.

If successful, it will be the first CubeSat mission performing a long transfer in deep space relying on its on-board electric propulsion only. It will be the first mission performing a SWE monitoring and alert experiment at such large distances from the Earth. It will be the first mission ever reaching a large DRO in the Sun-Earth system.
