In June 2026, SpaceDyS launched the project “EXPERT FACILITY ASSESSING THE QUALITY OF OPERATOR DATA“, funded by the European Space Agency (ESA). The two-year project aims to develop a specialized tool to evaluate the quality of data provided by satellite operators in support of space traffic coordination and management.
SpaceDyS coordinates a consortium comprising SpaceDyS and Nautilus, two Italian SMEs and university spin-offs. The initiative falls under the ESA CREAM (Collision Risk Estimation and Automated Mitigation) program, dedicated to automating and standardizing in-orbit collision risk prediction and mitigation processes.
The project addresses the challenge of data quality and heterogeneity exchanged among satellite operators by developing GUIDE (General Utility for Inspection and Data Evaluation), a software solution designed to assess data reliability and support experts in risk analysis. The software will be distributed under the open-source ESA Community License Weak Copyleft.
Throughout the project, algorithms and statistical metrics will be developed to evaluate ephemeris accuracy, covariance reliability, maneuver prediction quality, as well as other aspects such as data completeness, timeliness, and communication protocols. The solution will be validated through a test campaign using real data provided by satellite operators.
